# Which checks use AI, and what they see

Almost all of ListPlus's 100+ checks are rule-based and free. A small set
needs real-world judgment instead of a fixed pattern, so they run on AI —
this topic lists exactly which ones, and points to what data they see.

## The 7 AI checks

- **Fake/Test Name** — detects fake, test or placeholder names (e.g. "Max
  Mustermann").
- **Person Name as Company** — the company field actually holds a person's
  name.
- **Department Name Instead of Job Title** — a department/team name (e.g.
  "Marketing") sits in the job title field.
- **Seniority Classification** — classifies job titles into C-Level, VP,
  Director, Manager, IC or Intern.
- **Misspelled Country Name** — catches country-name misspellings in any
  language.
- **Country Name → ISO Code** — suggests converting a full country name to
  its ISO-2 code.
- **City-Country Mismatch** — checks whether the city in a row actually
  belongs to the country in that same row.

Every other check in the Analyze panel is deterministic (pattern- and
rule-based) and free.

Two of them, Misspelled Country Name and Country Name → ISO Code, have a
Fix button (see "[Fix and Fix all — correcting issues automatically](https://listplus.ai/en/help/check-and-clean/fixing-issues)"); the
other five only flag rows for review.

## Turning them on

These 7 checks are off by default. Open **Analysis settings** (gear icon)
in the Analyze panel, tick **Include AI Analysis**, and click **Re-run
Analysis**. The setting is marked in the app as using credits.

## What the AI sees

None of these checks send whole rows to the AI. They collect the distinct
values of the column being checked (or unique value pairs for a check that
compares two columns, like city and country), remove duplicates, and send
only that short list together with the rule — a 10,000-row list with a few
hundred unique job titles is sent as a few hundred values, not ten thousand

### Which checks in the Analyze panel use AI?

Seven: Fake/Test Name, Person Name as Company, Department Name Instead of Job Title, Seniority Classification, Misspelled Country Name, Country Name → ISO Code, and City-Country Mismatch. Every other check is rule-based and free.

### How do I turn on the AI checks?

Open Analysis settings (gear icon) in the Analyze panel, tick Include AI Analysis, then click Re-run Analysis. They're off by default.

### Do the AI checks cost credits?

Include AI Analysis is marked in the app as using credits, unlike the standard checks which are shown as free.

### Does an AI check see my whole row?

No — it only sees the distinct values of the column(s) that specific check looks at (for example just the city and country values, with duplicates removed), never your other columns or whole rows. See "what-the-ai-sees" for details.

### Why is City-Country Mismatch an AI check instead of a lookup list?

A fixed list of every city in every country, in every language, would always be incomplete and hard to maintain — an AI check handles this reliably without one.

### If I don't turn on Include AI Analysis, do I miss any format or completeness checks?

No — all checks covering formats, missing fields, duplicates and consistency run automatically for free. Include AI Analysis only adds the 7 checks above, plus a short written AI assessment of the list in the overview.
