# See on LinkedIn whether a person is in your HubSpot

Connect your HubSpot account to the ListPlus extension and every LinkedIn
profile you open shows whether the person is already a contact in HubSpot.
You open the contact with one click, and you create a missing contact or
add the LinkedIn address to an existing one when you click. You do not need
a ListPlus account for this.

The extension talks to HubSpot directly from your browser. Your HubSpot data
does not pass through ListPlus.

## Connect HubSpot

1. Open the extension and click the cog in the header (**Settings**).
2. Click **HubSpot**. Under **Your HubSpot (this browser)**, click
   **Connect HubSpot**.
3. Chrome asks for access to HubSpot's API. Allow it.
4. HubSpot opens its sign-in window. Pick your HubSpot account and confirm.
Because the app is not listed in HubSpot's marketplace yet, HubSpot shows
a note that it has not reviewed the app.
5. The settings now say **Connected in this browser**, with your portal and
what the extension may do: check only, or also create and link.

If you are not a HubSpot admin, your admin may need to approve the app once.
HubSpot then lets your admin decide who in the account may connect it.

## What the card shows

Open a LinkedIn profile. About a second later a line with the HubSpot mark
appears on the card:

- **In HubSpot**: the contact was found by its LinkedIn address. The arrow
beside it (**Open contact in HubSpot**) takes you to it.
- **Probably in HubSpot**: one contact with the same name whose company fits.
- **Possible matches in HubSpot**: contacts with the same name, but the
company does not decide. Open them to check, or link the right one.
- **Not in HubSpot**: no contact found. **Create contact** adds it.
- **HubSpot is busy** or **can't be reached**: nothing was checked.

The round arrow in the line (**Check again**) asks HubSpot anew, for
example after you changed a contact there.
- **HubSpot connection ended**: the app was removed in HubSpot or the access
  withdrawn. Click **Connect again**.

The extension looks first in the LinkedIn field of your contacts, then by
first and last name. It finds a contact even when HubSpot holds the whole
name in the first-name field. It knows the company from the page when **Read
page content** is on, from a headline like "Head of Sales @ Acme", or from
what **Enrich** found for a saved profile.

## Create a contact

1. On a profile that says **Not in HubSpot**, click **Create contact**. With
possible matches, click **None of them — create new**.
2. A dialog shows first name, last name, e-mail, job title, company and the
LinkedIn address. If you ran **Enrich** on the profile before, the e-mail
and job title it found are filled in. Change what you like. Exactly what
   you confirm goes to HubSpot.
3. Click **Create contact**.

Right before it creates the contact, the extension looks once more by the
LinkedIn address and, with an e-mail, by the e-mail, so you do not create a
duplicate. HubSpot records the
contact as created through **ListPlus for Chrome**.

## Link a profile to an existing contact

With a probable or possible match, click **Link** next to the right
contact. The extension writes the profile's address into the contact's
LinkedIn field and changes nothing else. From then on the contact is found
by its LinkedIn address.

If you may not edit contacts in HubSpot, the buttons are missing or the
card says so. Open the contact and edit it in HubSpot.

## The LinkedIn field

The extension uses HubSpot's standard field **LinkedIn URL**
(`hs_linkedin_url`). Some accounts have a second field with the same name
from an older integration. In **Settings** → **HubSpot** you can pick
another field; fields with the same name show their technical name, and each
shows how many contacts fill it. If your contact view in HubSpot shows a
different "LinkedIn URL" than the extension uses, add the standard field to
the view.

## Put new contacts into a sequence

The extension does not enrol anyone in a sequence. Your HubSpot admin sets
that up once with a workflow:

- Trigger: **Record source** is **Integration**, with **ListPlus for
Chrome** as the source. For contacts that come through a ListPlus list
and a pipeline, add **ListPlus ID is known** as a second trigger (OR).
- Action: **Enroll in a sequence**. Sequences need a paid HubSpot seat, a
connected inbox, and an e-mail address on the contact. Run **Enrich** on
  the profile before you create the contact, and the e-mail goes along;
without it, add one in HubSpot before the contact can be enrolled.

## Disconnect

In **Settings** → **HubSpot**, click **Disconnect**. That withdraws the
extension's access at HubSpot and deletes the connection in this browser.
If HubSpot cannot be reached at that moment, the extension stays connected
and says so; try again later.
The app stays listed in HubSpot under **Connected apps**; remove it there to
uninstall it completely.

## What it costs

Checking, creating and linking cost nothing. **Enrich** on the card is
separate: it uses ListPlus credits and needs a ListPlus account.

## Privacy

- For the check, the profile's address and the person's name go to HubSpot;
when you create a contact, the details you confirmed (with the e-mail
  Enrich found, if any).
- None of it goes to ListPlus. Only the sign-in exchange with HubSpot passes
  our server, which stores nothing.
- The access keys and the recent check results stay in this browser.
- Without a HubSpot connection the extension asks HubSpot nothing.

## FAQ

### Do I need a ListPlus account to use HubSpot in the extension?

No. Connecting HubSpot, checking profiles, creating and linking contacts work without a ListPlus account. Only **Enrich** and the hand-over to a ListPlus list need one.

### Why does HubSpot warn me when I connect the extension?

The app is not listed in HubSpot's marketplace yet, so HubSpot says it has not reviewed it. You see the app's domain, listplus.ai, and confirm. The extension only reads contacts, and it writes only when you click **Create** or **Link**.

### The card says "Not in HubSpot", but the contact exists. Why?

The extension finds a contact by its LinkedIn field or by first and last name. If HubSpot has neither, or spells the name differently, it finds nothing. Correct the contact in HubSpot and click **Check again** (the round arrow) on the card; a "not found" is kept only a quarter of an hour.

### Does the extension change my HubSpot contacts by itself?

No. It only reads by itself. It creates a contact or adds a LinkedIn address only when you click.

### Where do I see what the extension changed in HubSpot?

On the contact in HubSpot, open the property's history (for example **LinkedIn URL** → **Details**). Changes and new contacts show **ListPlus for Chrome** as their source.
