# Wrong result or outdated data — what now?

Enrichment providers are good, but none of them are right 100% of the time.
This topic covers the two most common ways a result can be wrong —
namesakes and outdated job data — how to check a value you're unsure about,
and what to do when you find one that's incorrect.

## Why a result can be wrong

The two most common causes: the provider matched the wrong person because
two people share a name (a namesake), or the person has since changed
company or role and the data hasn't caught up yet. Less often, a provider
simply holds a stale or mistyped record. See "Where does the data come
from?" for which provider stands behind each field, since accuracy depends
on the provider, not on ListPlus.

## Namesakes and the wrong person

If you're picking a person from search results and suspect you've got the
wrong one, that's covered in "[Person not found — what now?](https://listplus.ai/en/help/find-contacts/not-found-what-now)" — it explains
the ✓/✗ match badges on look-alike candidates and how to refine your
search. If a row already in your list turns out to hold the wrong person's
data, check the source first (see "Verify a value" below), then correct or
re-run the lookup with more specific input (adding the company or a
location helps the provider disambiguate).

## Outdated job or company data

People change jobs, and a provider's record doesn't always update
immediately. "[Detecting job changes](https://listplus.ai/en/help/enrich/job-change-detection)" covers the automatic and on-demand
ways ListPlus flags a row whose current company no longer matches what's
in your list.

## Emails that bounce or look wrong

For an email that looks suspicious or that bounced after sending, see
"[Email quality checks and verification](https://listplus.ai/en/help/check-and-clean/email-quality-and-bounces)" — it covers the free format checks
and the paid deliverability check that asks a mail server directly.

## A LinkedIn URL that looks wrong or dead

To check whether a LinkedIn URL in your list still points to a real,
existing profile, see "[LinkedIn data: find, fill and verify](https://listplus.ai/en/help/enrich/linkedin-data)."

## Verify a value before you trust it

Click the number badge in the sparkles column at the right edge of the
row. The record panel opens, and each result there is headed with its
provider and type — for example "Prospeo · Contact" or "CompanyEnrich ·
Company" — so you can see exactly which lookup produced the value you're
looking at and cross-check it against another source if you're unsure.

## What to do with a wrong result

There's no in-app button to "report" a wrong result to ListPlus or to the
provider behind it. Fix it yourself: edit the cell directly and click
**Save**, or delete the row if it's simply the wrong person (select it and
use the trash icon, or the selection bar's Delete option) and click
**Save** — edits and deletions stay unsaved until you do. If you believe a
provider is returning wrong data systematically rather than a one-off
mismatch, contact support — see "[How do I contact support?](https://listplus.ai/en/help/troubleshooting/contact-support)" A single wrong
enrichment result can also be removed on its own from the record panel:
open the section for that result and use its delete icon ("Remove this
enrichment data?") so it's no longer offered for filling into a cell.

## FAQ

### Is the data ListPlus shows me always accurate?

No — no enrichment provider is right 100% of the time. The most common causes of a wrong result are namesakes (the provider matched a different person with the same name) and outdated job or company data.

### How do I check which provider a specific value came from?

Click the number badge in the sparkles column at the right edge of the row; the record panel that opens headers each result with its provider and type, such as "Prospeo · Contact" or "CompanyEnrich · Company".

### A row in my list has the wrong person's data — what do I do?

Check the record panel to see which provider and lookup produced it. Then correct the cell yourself, or clear the wrong cells, add more specific input (company or location) and run the lookup again. Filling only writes into empty cells, so a wrong value that is still there isn't replaced; if it's the wrong person entirely, delete the row and click Save.

### The company or job title looks out of date — how do I catch that?

Run "Detect Company Changes" from the Enrich menu, or the "Detect Job Changes" wizard for a fresh check — see "[Detecting job changes](https://listplus.ai/en/help/enrich/job-change-detection)" for both. A flagged row shows the previous and new company in that row's record panel, under Signals.

### An email bounced even though ListPlus showed it as valid — what does that mean?

A "valid" format doesn't guarantee delivery on its own; see "[Email quality checks and verification](https://listplus.ai/en/help/check-and-clean/email-quality-and-bounces)" for the paid deliverability check that asks a mail server directly, and what a verified result does and doesn't guarantee.

### Can I report a wrong result to ListPlus or to the data provider?

There's no in-app "report this result" button. Correct the cell yourself, or delete the row if it's the wrong person entirely, then click Save — edits and deletions stay unsaved until you do. If you think a provider is returning wrong data as a pattern rather than a one-off, contact support and describe what you found.

### If I fix a wrong value myself, will ListPlus overwrite it again later?

Filling from enrichment results never replaces a value that's already in a cell. Only actions you start on purpose can: "Overwrite all" in "[Transfer data record by record, or join columns from another list](https://listplus.ai/en/help/enrich/take-over-and-join)", or an AI command that edits that column. Click Save after your fix, or it's lost when you leave the list.
