# Why did enrichment find nothing?

Sometimes a lookup runs and a cell stays empty. This article is about a
lookup that genuinely found nothing. If a lookup did find data but the cell
is still empty, that's a different situation — see "Fill empty cells with
enrichment data" instead.

## Why nothing was found

- **No starting point for that row.** Every route needs an anchor: a
  LinkedIn URL, an email, a domain, or a name plus company. A row with none
  of these appears in the enrichment plan under "Remains open (no route):"
  before anything runs and is skipped.
- **The provider genuinely has no match.** Small or very new companies,
  personal email domains, and people without an indexed LinkedIn profile are
  common cases no provider database covers.
- **The identifier is wrong or outdated.** A typo in the name, a stale
  LinkedIn URL, or a domain that no longer belongs to the company can lead
  to a miss even though the row looks complete.
- **The route didn't match the anchor.** A company-only row has nothing for
  a person route to start from, and vice versa — see the input tables in
  "Find a verified email" and "[Find phone and mobile numbers](https://listplus.ai/en/help/enrich/find-phone-and-mobile)" for which

## What was charged

Almost every lookup only charges when it actually finds something, so a

for the short list of exceptions that charge for the attempt itself, and
"Find a verified email" for the extra exceptions specific to email routes.

## What to try next

- **Try a wider route.** If "Contact Brief (by Name & Company)" (2 credits,
  only on a hit) finds nothing, "Find Email (by Name & Company)" searches
  more sources (6 credits, only on a hit).
- **Give the row an anchor first.** A free "LinkedIn URL (by Name &
  Company)" search (Enrich menu) can turn a name-and-company row into one
  with a LinkedIn URL to enrich from, at no cost even on a miss.
- **Double-check the row's existing data.** Fix a misspelled name or an
  obviously wrong domain, then re-run the lookup.
- **Accept it and move on.** Some contacts simply aren't in any provider's
  data — the row stays as-is, and most lookups cost nothing on a miss (see
  the exceptions under "What was charged").
