# Importing from a URL or a Google Sheets link

Instead of uploading a file, you can point ListPlus at a direct link to a
CSV, Excel or JSON file, or at a public Google Sheets link.

## How it works

On the New List page, click **Load from URL** below the file drop area,
paste the link, and click **Load data**. ListPlus fetches the file, then
takes you through the same preview, field-type check and naming steps as a
regular file import — see "[Create a list and import a file](https://listplus.ai/en/help/lists-and-import/create-list-and-import-file)" for that part.
Your credit balance is checked before the import starts, and you'll see an
error if it isn't enough.

## Google Sheets links

Paste the sheet's share link directly — ListPlus tries to read it without
you downloading anything first. The sheet must be shared as "Anyone with the
link can view," or the load fails; see "Import problems" for the exact error
and how to fix the sharing setting or download the file instead.

### How do I import data from a URL instead of uploading a file?
