# The Enrich pipeline target — fill a record's own missing fields

**Enrich** is a pipeline target that doesn't send a record anywhere —
instead it fills the record's own missing fields, using the cheapest route
ListPlus can find from the data it already has. It's the one pipeline
target that spends ListPlus credits.

## Set it up

1. Create a pipeline and choose the **Enrich** target.
2. Under **Fields to reach**, pick up to 8 content types (e-mail, phone,
   job title, company …).
3. Set **At most per record**: 5, 10, 25 or 50 credits — a step that would
exceed this budget is not started for that record.
4. Choose what happens to the cells: **Fill empty cells only** (default),
**Replace empty and invalid values**, or **Overwrite everything —
   including values entered by hand**.

## List records only

Enrich works on list records; a record added from Saved can't be enriched
this way and waits under Entries with an error naming this. If you want to
enrich a saved contact, save it to a list first.

## What it costs

Credits are only spent for the route that was actually used, up to the
budget you set — a cheaper route that already gets everything needed never
reaches the maximum. Whatever ListPlus finds is kept in the record's
enrichment data even in "Fill empty cells only" mode, so it's available
later even for a cell that stayed untouched this time.

## While it runs

Enrichment can take from a few seconds to a few minutes, so the entry shows
as **running** under Entries and the record's row gets a moving ring while
ListPlus works on it. The result lands in the pipeline's History: how many
cells were filled, or "Nothing new found" when the record already had
everything reachable, or "No route" when nothing more could be reached
from the data at hand.

## Testing it

**Test connection** on the Flow tab is a dry run: it shows the planned
route and the cost range for a real record, with no call made and no
credits spent.

## Using it from a trigger

A list trigger's **Then** menu offers **Enrich** as a shortcut: it adds a
"Hand over to pipeline" step pointing at one of your Enrich-target
pipelines (or lets you create one if you don't have one yet). See
"[Triggers — hand records on automatically](https://listplus.ai/en/help/working-in-a-list/list-triggers)" for the trigger side.

## FAQ

### What does the Enrich pipeline target do?

It fills the record's own missing fields instead of sending it anywhere else, using the cheapest route ListPlus can find from what the record already has. It's the only pipeline target that spends ListPlus credits.

### Does the Enrich target cost credits?

Yes, unlike every other pipeline target. You set a budget of 5, 10, 25 or 50 credits per record, and a step that would exceed it simply isn't started for that record.

### Can Enrich work on saved contacts, not just list records?

No, only list records — a record added from Saved waits under Entries with an error. Save it to a list first if you want to enrich it this way.

### What does the "running" ring on a row mean?

An Enrich pipeline is currently working on that record; enrichment can take from a few seconds to a few minutes. The ring goes away once it's done, and the pipeline's History shows what was filled or why not.

### What happens to cells that Enrich doesn't fill?

That depends on the option you chose: Fill empty cells only (default) leaves anything already filled untouched, Replace empty and invalid values also overwrites values that look wrong, and Overwrite everything replaces even values you typed by hand. Whatever is found is kept in the record's enrichment data regardless, even for a cell that stays as it was.

### Can I try Enrich without spending credits?

Yes, Test connection on the Flow tab is a dry run: it shows the planned route and its cost range for a real record without making a call or spending any credits.

### Can a trigger enrich a record directly?

Yes, a trigger's Then menu has an Enrich shortcut that hands the record to one of your Enrich-target pipelines. If you don't have one yet, it points you to create one.
