# Adding and managing columns

Beyond the columns your import created, you can add three kinds of columns —
a regular data column, a **Formula Column**, or an **AI Column** — and show,
hide, reorder, rename or delete any of them.

## Adding a column

Open the list's **⋯** menu in the header and choose **Add Column...** (you
can also start this from a column's own header menu, which inserts the new
column right next to it). Pick one of three modes:

- **Column** — search or browse column types (Email, Phone, Company, and
  dozens more) or fall back to a generic Text, Number, Date or Boolean
  column. The name auto-fills from the type; you can overwrite it before
  creating.
- **Formula Column** — computes a value from other columns using a formula
  you write (see below).
- **AI Column** — generates a value per row from an AI prompt you write (see
  below).

## Show, hide and reorder columns

Open **More → Columns** to show or hide columns with a checkbox and drag
them into a new order. Column order and visibility are list-level settings,
not tied to your unsaved edits.

## Renaming a column

Open the list's **⋯** menu → **List Settings...** → the **Schema** tab, click
a column to expand it, and edit its **Title** field. Click **Apply Changes**
at the bottom of the tab to save the rename. This tab also lets you adjust a
column's content type and data type.

## Formula columns

A formula column computes its value live from other columns in the same row
— it's free and never calls the AI. Reference another column by its name in
curly braces, e.g. `{Price} * {Quantity}`, `{First Name} & " " & {Last Name}`,
`IF({Revenue} > 1000, "Enterprise", "SMB")`, `ROUND({Amount} * 1.19, 2)`, or
`COALESCE({Mobile}, {Phone}, "N/A")`. The editor shows a live preview on your
first sample rows as you type, and flags an invalid formula before you can
create the column. Because the value is always recalculated from the current
row, there's nothing separate to save for the formula itself — it simply
reflects whatever is in the referenced columns, saved or not.

## AI Columns

An AI Column runs your own prompt through the AI for every row, using
`{Column Name}` placeholders to pull in that row's values — for example
`Classify {Company} in {Industry} as B2B or B2C` or `What seniority level is
"{Job Title}"? Reply: Junior, Mid, Senior, or Executive`. The editor previews
the rendered prompt on your first sample rows before you create the column.

To run it, click **Run** in the column's header (next to the purple AI
badge) — or **Run AI Column** from the column's header menu. It processes
only the rows currently visible (respecting any active filter), and — the
key saving — it first groups rows that share the exact same input values
and only asks the AI once per unique combination, applying that one answer
to every row in the group. A 10,000-row list with only a few hundred unique
job titles, for example, is billed for a few hundred AI calls, not ten
thousand.

AI Columns are billed by usage, the same way as other AI commands (see "How
credits work") — there's no fixed price and no cost preview before you run
it; the exact charge depends on how many unique combinations it actually
processed. Unlike AI commands, a run shows no credit note afterwards; the
charge is deducted from your credit balance (see Account). The results land
in the grid as regular unsaved cell edits, so you still need to click
**Save** to keep them (see "Saving is manual").

## Editing or deleting a column

Click the menu icon in a column's header for **Edit Formula** (formula
columns), **Edit AI Column** and **Run AI Column** (AI columns), or **Delete
Column** — available for every column except the built-in system columns
such as Tags.

### Does an AI Column run on every row or only the ones I can see?

Only the rows currently visible in the grid, so an active filter narrows what it processes. Clearing the filter and running it again covers the rest of the list. Rows where every referenced column is empty are skipped and not billed; a single run handles up to 5,000 unique combinations.

### How do I edit or delete a Formula Column or AI Column later?

Click the menu icon in that column's header for **Edit Formula** or **Edit AI Column** (to change the formula or prompt) and **Run AI Column** (AI columns only); **Delete Column** is there too, available for every column except the built-in system columns such as Tags.
