# The Dashboard panel: charts that filter your list

**Dashboard** is one of the panels in a list's **More** menu (list header →
More → Dashboard). It automatically turns your columns into charts — pie
charts for columns with a handful of distinct values, bar charts for
columns with more, plus a couple of charts that compare two columns and a
short list of insights, like which columns have the most missing data.

## Filtering by clicking a chart

Click a bar or a pie segment to filter the grid down to just the rows with
that value — the panel header then shows which filter is active, and a
**Clear Filter** button appears to remove it. Only one chart filter can be
active at a time; clicking a different segment replaces the previous
filter rather than adding to it. Closing the Dashboard panel clears the
filter automatically.

## Good to know

- Charts are generated from the data currently in the grid and rebuild each
  time you open the panel — there's nothing to configure or save.
- It's entirely computed in your browser: no credits are spent and no data
  leaves ListPlus to build these charts.
- With very little data, or columns that are mostly empty or all-unique
  (like a raw notes field), ListPlus may not have enough to chart and shows
  an empty state instead.

### What is the Dashboard panel?

### Why don't I see any charts for a column?

ListPlus needs enough structure to chart a column — a free-text field where almost every value is different, or a column that's mostly empty, usually won't produce a useful chart and is skipped.

### Do the charts update automatically as I edit the list?

Charts are generated fresh each time you open the Dashboard panel, so recent edits are included when you open it — they don't update live while it's already open and you're editing elsewhere.
