# Contact list or company list — the kind of a list Source: https://listplus.ai/en/help/working-in-a-list/list-kind Last updated: 2026-10-17 Every list has a **kind**: **Contact list** (rows are people — companies may be in it too) or **Company list** (every row is a company). The kind decides what the list offers you. A company list hides what is about a person, so you only see what fits a company. A contact list shows everything. ## Where you see and change it The small icon **before the list's title** shows the kind: a person for a contact list, a building for a company list. Hover over it to see the kind and how it was set ("detected from the columns", "detected from Markets", …). Click it to pick another kind. You can also change it in **Set up** → Overview, under **Kind of list**. Anyone who can edit the list can change the kind; readers only see the icon. ## How the kind is set The kind is set once, when the list is created: - **From where the records came from.** A list from Markets or a company search becomes a company list; people from Find, the Watchlist or a CRM's contacts become a contact list. A CRM's companies or a LinkedIn import set their own kind too; records that are partly people, partly companies make a contact list. - **Otherwise from the columns.** Company columns (company name, domain or website) without any person column make a company list. - **Everything else is a contact list.** Older lists without a kind count as contact lists too. Reloading, syncing or adding rows never changes the kind. Only you do. ## What a company list hides - **Columns:** the person columns (first name, last name, full name, job title, gender, a person's LinkedIn and similar), **Reachable** and the e-mail column. Phone columns stay visible, because a company has them too. If you need the e-mail (for example info@ addresses), show it again from the column menu — it stays visible until you change the list kind. - **Enrich:** the **Contact Enrichment** and **Find Missing Email or Phone** groups, the person steps of **AI Analysis** (Detect Gender, Split Full Names, Analyze Job Titles, Detect Company Changes), e-mail and LinkedIn verification, **Detect Job Changes** and the person wizards. **Company Enrichment** stays. - **Analyze:** the name, job-title and gender checks, the checks on a person's LinkedIn profile, and the e-mail checks that judge a person's address (personal, role-based or random-looking address). - **Evaluations:** Cold Email, Cold Calling, LinkedIn / Social, Multichannel Sequence and Deliverability. **CRM Quality** stays, as a company version: company, domain or website, industry, address, phone and e-mail. It accepts addresses like info@. - **AI chat and ⌘K:** person enrichments are not offered. If you ask the AI for one, it tells you to switch the list to Contact list first. ## Nothing is deleted The kind is a filter. Hidden columns keep their values. Switch the list back to **Contact list** and every column, check, evaluation and enrichment option comes back at once. A column you show again yourself in a company list stays visible until you change the kind again. ## Cost Changing the kind is free. The list is a company list, so its person columns, the Reachable column and the e-mail column are hidden. Their values are still there. Switch the list to Contact list (icon before the title) to show them all, or show a single column again from the column menu. ### Which enrichments and checks does a company list hide? It hides the Contact Enrichment and Find Missing Email or Phone groups, the person steps of AI Analysis, e-mail and LinkedIn verification, Detect Job Changes and the person wizards. Company Enrichment stays. In Analyze, the name, job-title and gender checks, the person LinkedIn checks and the personal and role-based e-mail checks are hidden. ### Which evaluations does a company list offer? Only CRM Quality, as a company version: company and domain or website are essential; industry, address, phone and e-mail are important. It accepts addresses like info@. Cold Email, Cold Calling, LinkedIn / Social, Multichannel Sequence and Deliverability come back when you switch to Contact list; your own evaluations stay. ### Does changing the kind delete any data? No. The kind is only a filter: hidden columns keep their values, and switching back brings every column, check, evaluation and enrichment option back at once. A column you show again yourself stays visible until you change the kind again. ### Does reloading or syncing change the kind of my list? No. Reloading from the source, syncing and adding rows never change the kind. It changes only when someone picks another kind. ### Why won't the AI chat enrich job titles or e-mails in my company list? In a company list the AI does not run person enrichments, and ⌘K does not offer them. The AI tells you to switch the list to Contact list first. Company enrichment works as usual. ### Why does my list say Company list when it has a contact name column? The kind was set when the list was created, from where the records came from or from its columns. If it is wrong, click the icon before the list's title and pick Contact list. Nothing is lost.
