# Make a trigger from your current filter

**Use current filter** turns whatever narrows your list right now into
trigger conditions, so you don't rebuild a filter by hand. It appears below
the conditions in the trigger editor and as the first row of the empty
state ("Turn what narrows the list now into conditions."), only while
something narrows the list.

## How to use it

1. Narrow the list the way you want — a column filter, a status, a sublist
   or a check in Analyze.
2. Click **Triggers** in the list header, then **Use current filter** (or
start a new trigger and click it below the conditions).
3. Check the conditions, add actions under **Then** and save.

The result is added to the conditions already there (AND). Setting up
triggers is for the workspace's owner and admins.

## What it takes over

- Column conditions (shown as "Filter: {column}"), the status chip, a
sublist's rule and funnel filters on the list's own columns, Tags and
  Status.
- Analysis checks that look at one record each; each becomes its own OR
group. Thirteen map: freemail, disposable address, role address, invalid
e-mail format, no e-mail, empty job title, name, company, country or
city, phone without country code, LinkedIn company page and invalid
  LinkedIn URL.
- In the working list, "status is none of" the done statuses, but only
when another filter is active and no status filter is set.

## What it leaves out

The editor lists everything it did not take over under "Not taken over:"
— quick search, the Changes filter, Selected rows, Only enriched records,
a chart selection and checks that need more than one record. It also
leaves out anything that would not fit a trigger: at most 5 OR groups of 12
conditions each and 100 values per condition. The list names what was
dropped and why.

## FAQ

### How do I turn my current filter into a trigger?

Filter the list, open Triggers in the list header and click Use current filter. It is below the conditions in the editor and the first row of the empty state, and it adds what narrows the list as conditions.

### Which filters does "Use current filter" take over?

Column conditions, the status chip, a sublist's rule and funnel filters on the list's own columns, Tags and Status. Thirteen Analyze checks that look at one record each also map, each as its own OR group.

### What is not taken over, and why?

Quick search, the Changes filter, Selected rows, Only enriched records, a chart selection and checks that compare records are not conditions on one record, so they are listed under "Not taken over:". Anything beyond a trigger's limits (5 OR groups, 12 conditions per group, 100 values per condition) is listed with that reason.

### Why does the trigger get "status is none of …" when I'm in the working list?

The working list hides done records, and the trigger copies that. It adds the condition only when another filter is active, you set no status filter and the list has done statuses.

### Does "Use current filter" replace the conditions I already have?

No. The filter is combined with the existing conditions by AND, so the trigger narrows further.

### What does "too many OR groups — nothing was changed" mean?

Combined with the conditions above, the filter would exceed what a trigger can hold, so nothing was changed. Remove a condition or an OR group, or narrow the filter, and try again.

### Why don't I see "Use current filter"?

It shows only while something narrows the list, and only to people who may set up triggers (owners and admins). Filter the list first.

### Can I make a trigger from an Analyze check?

Yes. Select the check in Analyze, then open Triggers and click Use current filter. Only checks that look at one record each map; others are listed under "Not taken over:".
