Saved vs. Lists: why both exist

Updated Markdown

Saved and Lists both hold contacts, but they're for two different stages of the same job: Saved is where people wait before you've decided what to do with them, and a list is where you actually get them ready for something — checked, enriched, exported.

What each one is for#

Saved is a lightweight holding area. Anyone you look at in Person Search, Segment Search, AI Research or the Inbox is saved automatically once a lookup finds data, sorted into folders you create, with no notes, statuses or deal stages — it's deliberately not a CRM. You can reopen and reload anyone in Saved for free at any time, whether or not you've decided on a list for them yet.

A list is a real, structured table: columns, checks, evaluations (Cold Email, CRM Quality, …), enrichment, and export or sync to another tool. Working on a list is where credits get spent and where data actually becomes usable for a campaign or a CRM push.

Both belong to the workspace: every member sees the same Saved contacts and the same lists, and each workspace has its own of both.

The practical differences#

  • Structure. Saved has no columns of its own beyond what a person's profile carries; a list has whatever schema you or an import gave it, and every list can look completely different.
  • Record limit. Rows in lists count toward the record limit of the workspace owner's plan; people sitting in Saved do not — Saved has its own, separate caps per workspace (up to 1,000 saved people outside folders, up to 300 more filed across the folders, plus up to 50 viewed-only entries kept for 30 days — Person Search's Recently viewed shows the 6 most recent) that have nothing to do with the plan.
  • What you can do there. In Saved you can reload a profile, add-on reveals like a verified email or mobile, and move people to a list. Full enrichment jobs, checks, evaluations, exports and syncs only run inside a list.
  • Lifetime. People you've saved, filed into a folder, or enriched stay in Saved indefinitely; merely-viewed entries drop out after 30 days. A list stays until you delete it.

Moving between them#

Saved is a one-way step into a list: tick people in Saved and click Add → Add to list to send them into an existing or new list, merging with matching rows instead of duplicating. Add → Send to pipeline is the third destination: it hands the selected people to a pipeline (for example your CRM or Slack) straight from Saved, without a list in between — see "Pipelines — send records on to your CRM, Slack, e-mail or API". There's no "send a list row back to Saved" — if you want to keep working a contact without committing to a specific list, keep them in Saved until you're ready.

FAQ#

Why does ListPlus have both Saved and Lists?#

They cover two stages: Saved is a lightweight place to collect people as you find them, without deciding on a list yet; a list is where you structure, check, enrich and export contacts for a specific job like a campaign or a CRM push.

Do people in Saved count toward my plan's record limit?#

No. The record limit only counts rows inside lists, against the plan of the workspace owner. Saved has its own separate limits per workspace instead — up to 1,000 saved people outside folders, up to 300 more across the folders, plus up to 50 viewed-only entries kept for 30 days.

Can I run enrichment or checks on people while they're still in Saved?#

You can reload a profile and run individual add-ons like revealing a verified email in Saved, but full enrichment jobs, quality checks and evaluations only run inside a list — add the people to a list first for those.

Does adding someone to a list remove them from Saved?#

No. Adding a person to a list doesn't remove them from Saved — they stay there too, so you can still find them later, add them to a second list, or file them into a folder.

Can I move a contact from a list back into Saved?#

Not directly — opening that person's profile from the list only adds them to Recently viewed. To keep them in Saved, choose a folder under Save in … in the profile drawer, or click Load; they stay once a lookup finds data. The list row stays where it is either way.

Can I send saved contacts to a pipeline without putting them in a list first?#

Yes. On the Saved page, tick the people, click Add and choose Send to pipeline, then pick the pipeline. They wait there as entries until someone clicks Send in the pipeline; see "Pipelines — send records on to your CRM, Slack, e-mail or API" for how that works.

Which one should I use to start finding new contacts?#

Either works — opening someone's profile from Person Search, Segment Search, AI Research or the Inbox saves them automatically once a lookup finds data, so Saved fills up as you search. Use it to collect over several sessions, then send a batch to a list once you know which campaign or CRM push they're for.
