Enrich selected rows: plan, steps and the "at most"
Select rows, click Enrich in the selection bar, pick the fields you want (for example Email), click Next and then Start enrichment. That starts one enrichment job for all selected rows: the dialog before it is only a preview, and the server then works out the route for every row from what the row holds. This article explains the plan, the "at most" figure and the steps; the stop reasons and the Continue button are in "Continue a stopped enrichment", how large selections are split in "Enrichment runs: progress, limits and stopped runs".
What the plan dialog shows#
The dialog lists your rows in groups by what they are missing ("Gap patterns"), with the route, the price per hit, and a footer with the most the whole job can cost: at most N Cr. Contacts with nothing to search from (no name, no company, no email) are noted as "cannot be enriched" and skipped without a charge. When a step uses AI (gender, for example) the footer adds plus AI tokens, because AI is billed by usage after the call.
What happens after Start enrichment#
The job works in steps (stages). In each step, every row that still misses a field gets its next untried route; if that finds nothing, the next step tries the next route, up to eight steps. While it runs, the task indicator reads "Enrichment · step N" and the rows show their ring. The job fills empty cells only and asks nothing — you can close the tab; the job carries on on the server.
The "at most" is a ceiling, not a price#
ListPlus charges per hit: a record that finds nothing costs nothing. The "at most" adds up the most expensive path a record could take — the first route, its fallbacks and the steps a hit opens (name to email, then email to profile) — so it can be above what is really charged. The server takes the smaller of the figure in the dialog and its own worst case, and the job stops with "Stopped at the maximum you accepted" if it would go past it.
The same job from other places#
The AI chat, a check card's Enrich (n) in the Analyze panel and the cell wand's multi-step plan start the same job. They show no cost dialog, but the job still uses the same ceiling; a single step from the Enrich menu is a plain run without a ceiling beyond your balance.

FAQ#
What happens after I click Start enrichment?#
ListPlus starts one job for all selected rows. The server plans each row again from what the row holds, runs the cheapest route first and fills empty cells as results arrive. Close the tab if you like; the task indicator shows the progress.
Why does the plan say "at most" — will I pay that?#
No — "at most" is a ceiling, not a price. Lookups charge only on a hit, so a record that finds nothing costs nothing, and the job never spends more than the figure you accepted.
Why is the "at most" higher than I expected?#
It counts the most expensive path a record can take: the first route, the fallback routes tried when it finds nothing, and the steps a hit opens (for example name to email, then email to profile). Rows with identical inputs count once. What you pay is only the routes that actually hit.
What does "plus AI tokens" mean in the enrich dialog?#
One of the steps is an AI step, for example gender. AI is billed by usage after the call, so its cost is not inside the "at most" and comes on top.
Why does the task say "Enrichment · step 2"?#
A job from the selection bar works in steps: each step gives every open row its next route, and the label shows which step is running. A job has at most eight steps, and it ends as "Enrichment completed" when no row has a route left.
Does ListPlus try another provider when the first finds nothing?#
Yes, for a job from the selection bar, the AI chat or a check card: the next step tries the next route for that record (for example Contact Brief, then the wider FullEnrich search), still within the "at most". A single step from the Enrich menu runs once.
Why does the result say "not found" — is that an error?#
No. "n not found" (grey) means a lookup ran and the provider had nothing for that record, and it costs nothing. Only "n errors" (red) means a provider failed to answer.
Can I enrich more than 5,000 selected rows at once?#
Yes. A selection above 5,000 lookups is split into several jobs automatically, and each one shows in the task indicator.
