Find a verified email address
Inside a list, ListPlus finds emails the same way no matter which button you click: it looks at what you already have for that row — a LinkedIn URL, an email to reverse-lookup, or just a name and company — and runs the cheapest lookup that can work from it. This page is about running that lookup in a list, on one row, one cell, or many rows at once. For exact credit amounts and charge rules per action, see "What does one contact cost?" and "Price list: what every action costs."
Four ways to start it#
- Select rows, then the selection bar's Enrich button — opens a field picker: choose the Person entity (selected by default), then Contact details group, then the Email field (also available: Phone, Mobile, LinkedIn URL). Click Next to see the plan.
- The Enrich button in the list toolbar — under Contact Enrichment: "Contact Brief (by LinkedIn URL)," "Contact Brief (by Name & Company)," "Contact Profile (by Email)" and "Contact Profile (by Name & Company)"; under Find Missing Email or Phone: "Find Email (by Name & Company)" and "Find Email + Phone (by Name & Company)." Items only appear when the list has the input they need. Each item shows its estimated cost for the rows it applies to.
- The record panel, open on a single row — the same named buttons, for just that contact.
- The wand icon over an empty email cell — opens a single-cell window that lists every possible route for that one row, cheapest first, with a "cheapest" or "recommended" badge.
The plan: which route it picks and why#
After you pick Email in the selection-bar field picker, ListPlus shows the plan before charging anything. For each group of rows it picks the cheapest route that can work from what the row already has. For example, it starts from a LinkedIn URL when there is one, and otherwise from name + company. The plan screen shows each group of rows with its route, the cost of each step, and the worst case ("at most N Cr"). Rows with no usable input at all (no LinkedIn URL, no email, no name+company) are listed under "Remains open (no route)" and are skipped, never charged.
What you need for each button#
| You already have | Use | Returns |
|---|---|---|
| A LinkedIn profile URL | "Contact Brief (by LinkedIn URL)" | Verified email, the company's main phone, company data |
| A name and company | "Contact Brief (by Name & Company)" | Same as above, matched by name + company |
| A name and company, no hit yet | "Find Email (by Name & Company)" | Verified email from a wider waterfall search |
| A name and company, need phone too | "Find Email + Phone (by Name & Company)" | Verified email and a direct phone number |
| Only an email (reverse lookup) | "Contact Profile (by Email)" (Enrich menu, record panel, single-cell fill window) | Name, job title, company, LinkedIn URL |
| Only a company name (no person) | none of the above — find a name or a LinkedIn URL first (see below), then use a Contact Brief button | — |
If you have none of these for a row, a free Google search for a LinkedIn URL by name and company ("LinkedIn URL (by Name & Company)" in the Enrich menu) is usually the cheapest way to get an input the paid routes can use.
What gets charged and when#
Most email routes charge only when they find something, so a miss costs nothing. Three exceptions: LinkedIn Profile Search by name and company charges 1 credit for every attempt. A LinkedIn profile lookup (0.5 credits) charges whenever the profile is found, even if it contains no email. "Find Email + Phone" charges when the lookup returns any data. The plan screen lists each step, so you can see which one applies before you start. See "Price list: what every action costs" for the full charge rule per action, including the two-part charge on the chained version of "Contact Profile (by Name & Company)."
Verify what you found#
Finding an email and confirming it's deliverable are two separate steps. After a lookup fills the cell, run "Verify Email Deliverability" (Enrich menu or record panel) to check the address against a live mail server before you send to it — see "Email quality checks and verification" for what a verified/invalid/catch-all result means and what it costs.
When no email is found#
A route that finds nothing doesn't charge you (except the cases listed above), and the cell stays empty so you can try a different route — for example, if "Contact Brief" comes up empty, the wider "Find Email (by Name & Company)" waterfall checks more sources. If every route is exhausted, the row simply has no known input a lookup can start from; check the row for a usable name, company, or LinkedIn URL first, since a missing anchor is the most common reason nothing is found.

FAQ#
How do I find emails for everyone in my list at once?#
Select the rows, click Enrich in the selection bar, choose Person → Contact details → Email, then Next. ListPlus shows the route and worst-case cost for the selected rows before charging anything.
Which button finds an email from just a LinkedIn URL?#
"Contact Brief (by LinkedIn URL)" in the Enrich menu, the record panel, or the single-cell fill window — it returns the verified email, the company's main phone number, and basic company data, charged only if it finds an email.
Which button finds an email from a name and company?#
Start with "Contact Brief (by Name & Company)" — the cheaper route. If it finds nothing, "Find Email (by Name & Company)" runs a wider waterfall search across more sources for a higher chance of a hit, at a higher cost only if it succeeds.
Can I find who an email belongs to, instead?#
Yes — "Contact Profile (by Email)" (Enrich menu, record panel, single-cell fill window) takes an email you already have and returns the person's name, job title, company, and LinkedIn URL, charged only on a match.
How does ListPlus decide which route to use?#
It looks at what each row already has, such as a LinkedIn URL or a name and company, and picks the cheapest route that can fill the gap. Before you start, the plan screen shows each group of rows with its route, the cost of each step and the worst case ("at most N Cr").
Am I charged if no email is found?#
Usually not. Exceptions: LinkedIn Profile Search (1 credit per attempt), a LinkedIn profile lookup (0.5 credits when the profile is found, with or without an email) and "Find Email + Phone" (charged when it returns data).
What if a row has no LinkedIn URL and no name + company?#
That row is listed under "Remains open (no route)" in the plan and is skipped without any charge — every email route needs at least one of these as a starting point. Add a LinkedIn URL, or the person's name together with their company, and try again.
How do I fill only the rows that are still missing an email?#
Rows that already have an email are skipped automatically: the plan only includes rows where the email is missing. The "only what is missing" switch in the field picker (on by default) also hides fields that no selected row is missing.
How do I check that a found email actually works?#
Run "Verify Email Deliverability" on the column after enrichment — it checks the address against a live mail server and reports valid, invalid, catch-all, disposable, or unknown. See "Email quality checks and verification" for what each result means.
Where does a found email go — straight into the cell?#
No — results land in a review step first. After the run finishes, ListPlus asks whether to fill empty cells with the new data; see "Fill empty cells with enrichment data" for the full merge flow.
