Sending into the Inbox from n8n, Zapier, Shortcuts, scripts and email
You have two private addresses that any tool, script, automation or email client can send content to: a forwarding email address and a webhook URL for tools. Anything sent to either lands unchanged in the Inbox of the workspace the addresses belong to, ready to recognize later. Every member of a workspace has their own pair for that workspace, and everything they receive goes into the same shared Inbox; in another workspace you get a different pair.
Getting your addresses#
On the Inbox page, the Forward emails card under "More ways into your inbox" shows your address with "Your personal address for this workspace", or a Create address button if you don't have one yet. The full setup is under Receive from tools (also reached via Automatically via API → Set up): click Create address there once per workspace, and ListPlus shows:
- Forward by e-mail — a personal address ending
@in.listplus.ai, with a Copy button. Forward or send mail to it directly from your mail client or phone. - For tools (webhook URL) — a private URL for scripts and automations, plus ready-made snippets for n8n, Zapier and iPhone Shortcuts that you can copy directly.
You get exactly one of each per workspace, tied together: renewing or closing one affects both (see below). Make sure the right workspace is active before you copy an address, because contacts sent there land in that workspace's Inbox.
Forwarding email#
Forward or CC any mail to your Forward by e-mail address. ListPlus turns it into inbox entries:
- The message body becomes one text entry (subject is stored as its note).
- The first 10 attachments are read; text PDFs, vCards, calendar invites (.ics), CSV, JSON and plain-text files each become their own entry. Excel files, images and scanned PDFs are skipped.
- Keep attachments under about 3 MB in total — larger emails may not arrive at all, body included.
- A mail with only skipped attachments still delivers its body as an entry.
- Spam-flagged mail and duplicate deliveries of the same message are dropped. Mail to an old, rotated address is dropped too.
- ListPlus never replies to a forwarded mail — not even to reject it.
Anyone who knows your forwarding address can send mail into your workspace's Inbox; there is no sender allowlist, only the size and rate limits below.
What each tool sends#
- n8n — an HTTP Request node: POST to your webhook URL, with the body as
plain text or JSON. Add
?source=n8nto the URL to see that source labeled in your Inbox. - Zapier — the Webhooks by Zapier action, Custom Request: POST, with
Content-Type
text/plainorapplication/json, any body. - iPhone Shortcuts — the "Get Contents of URL" action: method POST, request body is your text. Works well from the iOS share sheet, so you can send a webpage or a note straight to your Inbox from your phone.
- Your own script — POST plain text, a JSON object, or a file
(
multipart/form-datawith one file field: txt, md, csv, json, ics, vcf, eml, xml, html, or a PDF — text PDFs are extracted server-side, a scanned PDF is rejected with an error; images and other binary files aren't accepted). A plaincurlcall works too, for examplecurl -X POST "<your webhook URL>?source=myscript" -H "Content-Type: text/plain" --data "...".
Optional query parameters or JSON fields let a sender add context: source
(who sent it), hint (a parser hint like ics, vcard or table), and
note (a short note, up to 500 characters).
Limits#
Each entry can hold up to 256 KB, and a workspace's Inbox keeps up to 500 live entries at a time, counted for all members together — older entries expire on their own before that becomes a problem, but if you reach it, new sends are refused until older entries expire. A forwarded email can add up to 11 entries at once (the body plus up to 10 attachments). Sending is also rate-limited per minute and per day for each person so a single runaway script or a leaked address can't flood your Inbox; if you hit a limit, the response (or, for email, silence) tells the difference between a skipped part and a dropped message. Every entry — however it arrived — is deleted automatically 14 days after it was received; see "The Inbox" for what that means for people you've already saved or added to a list.
Renewing or turning it off#
Both addresses are private: anyone who has one can send into your workspace's Inbox, and nothing else. Renewing or closing only affects your own pair in the current workspace; colleagues' addresses keep working. If either leaks — for example a script logs the URL somewhere public, or you no longer trust who has your forwarding address — click Renew address; the old email address and the old URL both stop working immediately, and new ones take their place. You can also click Close intake on the same screen, which stops all intake through your pair (email and tools) until you create a new one. If the workspace is deleted, all its addresses stop working.
FAQ#
How do I get an address that tools can send data to?#
On the Inbox page, click Receive from tools (or Automatically via API → Set up), then Create address, once per workspace. ListPlus shows your personal forwarding address for this workspace under "Forward by e-mail" and a webhook URL under "For tools (webhook URL)", along with copyable setup snippets for n8n, Zapier and iPhone Shortcuts.
What request format does the webhook URL expect?#
A POST request with either plain text (Content-Type text/plain), a JSON body, or a file upload (multipart/form-data with one file field — txt, md, csv, json, ics, vcf, eml, xml, html, or a PDF; a scanned PDF is rejected). Optional source, hint and note fields or query parameters let the sender add context shown in your Inbox.
How do I connect n8n, Zapier or an iPhone Shortcut?#
n8n: an HTTP Request node POSTing to your webhook URL with the body as text or JSON. Zapier: the Webhooks by Zapier "Custom Request" action, POST, text/plain or application/json. iPhone Shortcuts: the "Get Contents of URL" action, method POST, with your text as the request body — great from the share sheet.
How do I forward emails into my Inbox?#
Copy your address from the Forward emails card on the Inbox page (or create it there with Create address) and forward mail to it; it ends in @in.listplus.ai and belongs to the current workspace. The body becomes one entry, and the first 10 attachments are read: text PDFs, vCards, calendar invites, CSV, JSON and plain-text files each become their own entry (kept under about 3 MB in total), while Excel files, images and scanned PDFs are skipped, and ListPlus never replies.
Why didn't my forwarded e-mail arrive?#
Most likely the attachments were too large — keep them under about 3 MB in total, since larger emails may not arrive at all. Excel files and scanned PDFs are also skipped rather than stored, and spam-flagged or duplicate mail is dropped; if none of that explains it, check that your forwarding rule sends to the exact address shown and that you're looking at the Inbox of the workspace that address belongs to.
How big can one entry be, and how many can I have?#
Each entry can be up to 256 KB, and a workspace's Inbox holds up to 500 live entries at a time for all members together; older entries expire automatically well before that limit matters, but if you reach it, new sends are refused until older entries expire. A forwarded mail can add up to 11 entries at once (body plus up to 10 attachments). Sending is also rate-limited, so a leaked address or a misconfigured script can't flood your Inbox.
How long does content sent this way stay in the Inbox?#
Every entry, however it arrived, is deleted automatically 14 days after it was received. People you've saved or added to a list from it are unaffected — only the raw entry disappears.
What happens if my intake address leaks?#
Click Renew address on the Receive from tools screen — your old forwarding email address and old webhook URL for this workspace both stop accepting new content immediately, and new ones replace them together; colleagues' addresses aren't affected. Update any tool, script, or mail forwarding rule that was using the old address afterward.
Can I turn off receiving from tools and email entirely?#
Yes, click Close intake on the Receive from tools screen — nothing can be sent through your address pair for this workspace, by email or by tool, until you create a new one. Pasting content yourself on the Inbox page still works either way.
Why do I have a different forwarding address in each workspace?#
Each address belongs to one person in one workspace, so ListPlus knows which workspace's Inbox a mail belongs in. Forward to the address you see while that workspace is active; creating a new workspace means creating a new address there.
