Trying ListPlus with a sample list

To look first — free, no account: click Open a sample list on the Lists page ("Just want to look around?"), Open sample list on the Home page ("Want a look first?") or Open the sample list at the top of the New List page. It opens Sample contacts — 247 business contacts across 21 columns, with deliberate data gaps — and shows its checks right away; they run live. This sample is shared by everyone and view only: you can look around, filter and open the checks, but not edit, fix or enrich. A banner at the top says so; Create your own list takes you to the New List page. A few of its contacts carry enrichment data (the small number at the end of the row), so you can see what enrichment adds: real company data for some, and made-up sample data for the made-up people.

To try fixing and enriching — your own copy: there is no button for this; open the address listplus.ai/app/new-list?sample=contact-list-sample in your browser to load Sample contacts, or listplus.ai/app/new-list?sample=company-list-sample for Sample companies (a smaller reference list of well-known companies). This runs through the same import as your own file, so it needs an account, costs credits like any file import, and the list is created in your active workspace. The people in the samples are made up, so enriching them finds little.

What is the sample list for?#

It's a ready-made list with deliberate data gaps and errors, so you can try checks, fixes, enrichment and export before importing your own data. See "Your first 10 minutes with ListPlus" for the full walkthrough.

Which sample lists are available?#

Sample contacts (247 business contacts across 21 columns, with intentional gaps) and Sample companies (a smaller reference list of well-known companies). Open a sample list on the Lists page and Open sample list on Home open the shared, view-only Sample contacts; both samples can be loaded as your own copy by opening listplus.ai/app/new-list?sample=contact-list-sample or listplus.ai/app/new-list?sample=company-list-sample in your browser.

Is a sample list different from starting an empty list?#

Yes. A sample list is pre-filled: the shared one costs no credits and is view only, your own copy costs credits like any file import; starting without data creates an empty list from a template and costs no credits. See "Starting without data" for that option.

Can I delete a sample list once I'm done with it?#

Your own copy, yes: it's a regular list — delete, rename or duplicate it the same way as any other list (see "Projects and list management"). The shared sample list belongs to nobody's workspace; there is nothing to delete.

Why can't I edit or enrich the sample list?#

The list that Open a sample list opens is shared by everyone and view only, so you can look around and see what the checks find without an account. To edit, fix and enrich, click Create your own list in the banner and import your data, or load your own copy of the sample by opening listplus.ai/app/new-list?sample=contact-list-sample in your browser.

Do I need to sign in to load a sample list?#

Not to look at it: Open a sample list opens the shared, view-only sample with its checks without an account. Loading your own copy creates a real list in your active workspace, so ListPlus asks you to sign in first, the same as any other way of creating a list.

Does a sample list count toward my plan's record limit?#

The shared sample list does not. Your own copy is checked like any import, but both samples are well within every plan's limit (Sample contacts has 247 rows), so it won't be an issue unless the workspace owner's limit is already nearly full. See "What is the record limit?" for the exact numbers.
