Trying ListPlus with a sample list

The quickest way in: with no lists yet, click Open a sample list on the Lists page ("Just want to look around?") or Open sample list on the Home page ("Want a look first?"). Either button loads Sample contacts — 247 business contacts across 21 columns, with deliberate data gaps — straight into the import preview; click Create List to import it.

On the New List page, under Want to try it first?, you can also load Sample contacts or Sample companies (a smaller reference list of well-known companies). Loading a sample runs through the same import as your own file, so it costs 1 credit, like any file import, and the list is created in your active workspace.

What is the sample list for?#

It's a ready-made list with deliberate data gaps and errors, so you can try checks, fixes, enrichment and export before importing your own data. See "Your first 10 minutes with ListPlus" for the full walkthrough.

Which sample lists are available?#

Sample contacts (247 business contacts across 21 columns, with intentional gaps) and Sample companies (a smaller reference list of well-known companies). Open a sample list on the Lists page and Open sample list on Home load Sample contacts directly; both samples are offered on the New List page under "Want to try it first?".

Is a sample list different from starting an empty list?#

Yes. A sample list is pre-filled and costs 1 credit, like any file import; starting without data creates an empty list from a template and is free. See "Starting without data" for that option.

Can I delete a sample list once I'm done with it?#

Yes, it's a regular list — delete, rename or duplicate it the same way as any other list. See "Projects and list management."

Do I need to sign in to load a sample list?#

Yes — loading a sample creates a real list in your active workspace, so ListPlus asks you to sign in first if you haven't already, the same as any other way of creating a list.

Does a sample list count toward my plan's record limit?#

Yes, it's checked like any import, but both samples are well within every plan's limit (Sample contacts has 247 rows), so it won't be an issue unless the workspace owner's limit is already nearly full. See "What is the record limit?" for the exact numbers.
