How many records fit in one list?
One list holds at most 50,000 records, on every plan. This is separate from your plan's record limit, which is a total over all your lists (see "Record limit"): on Pro or Premium you can hold far more than 50,000 records, spread over several lists.
Where the ceiling shows#
- Importing a file: a larger file is cut to its first 50,000 rows. The preview warns "Importing X of Y rows – one list holds at most 50,000 records." with the hint "Import the remaining rows into a second list."
- Importing from a connected tool (HubSpot, Google Sheets …): at most 50,000 records are brought into the list.
- Adding rows to a full list is refused with "A list holds at most 50,000 records – start a new list for more."
- Merging lists into one that would be larger is refused with "One list holds at most 50,000 records – the merged list would have N." Nothing is changed.
- Automatic refresh: when the source has more new records than fit, the refresh changes nothing and says "The source has more new records than fit – one list holds at most 50,000 records. Nothing was changed."
To work with more contacts, split them over several lists, for example by country, segment or source.

FAQ#
How many records can one list hold?#
One list holds at most 50,000 records on every plan, however high your plan's total record limit is. The plan limit (Pro 100,000, Premium 1,000,000) is a separate total across all your lists, so large totals mean several lists.
Why were only 50,000 rows of my file imported?#
One list holds at most 50,000 records, so the wizard imports the first 50,000 rows and warns "Importing X of Y rows – one list holds at most 50,000 records." Create a second list from the remaining rows, as the hint under the warning says.
Why can't I add rows to this list ("A list holds at most 50,000 records")?#
The list has reached the per-list ceiling of 50,000 records, which applies on every plan. Start a new list for more rows; deleting rows in this list makes room again.
Why does merging two lists say the merged list would be too large?#
Because one list holds at most 50,000 records and the merged result would have more. The message reads "One list holds at most 50,000 records – the merged list would have N." and nothing is changed; merge fewer records or keep two lists.
Why did my automatic refresh say "more new records than fit"?#
The source has more new records than one list can take, so the refresh stops with "The source has more new records than fit – one list holds at most 50,000 records. Nothing was changed." Narrow what the source delivers or import the surplus into a second list.
How do I work with more than 50,000 contacts?#
Split them over several lists: each list holds at most 50,000 records, and your plan's total (Pro 100,000, Premium 1,000,000) counts across all of them. Import the remaining rows into a second list when the wizard offers it.
Does an import from HubSpot or Google Sheets stop at 50,000 records?#
Yes. An import from a connected tool brings at most 50,000 records into one list, on every plan. Narrow the import with the source's filters, or import the rest into a second list.
