What the Analyze panel checks and how the quality score works

Updated Markdown

The Analyze panel checks every row in your list against over 100 rules (which ones apply depends on the columns in your list) — missing fields, invalid formats, duplicates, and more — and gives you an overall quality score. The standard checks cost nothing and need no setup.

Open the Analyze panel#

In a list, click Analyze — one of the three quick buttons in the header (alongside Record and Enrich). You can also reach it from the Find & evaluate field in the header. The analysis runs automatically the first time you open the panel; to refresh it later, open Analysis settings (gear icon) and click Re-run Analysis.

The quality score#

At the top of the panel, a ring shows Contact Quality: a score from 0 to 10 (one decimal, for example "8.3"), with the number of contacts analyzed underneath. Each contact gets points for having usable key fields — a business email counts most, then full name, company, job title, phone, LinkedIn and location — counting only the columns your list has, and the ring shows the average. Below it, a bar breaks your rows down into five bands by each contact's own score — Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor, Unusable. Under the score, checks are listed with how many rows each one affects (for example "Company missing — 42 rows"); click checks to combine them into one selection, then click Select N rows to show those rows and highlight the affected cells so you can see and fix them.

Over 100 checks, grouped by topic#

There are more than 100 individual checks, covering names, emails, phone numbers, companies, job titles, addresses, LinkedIn URLs, gender, duplicates, compliance and general completeness. Analysis settings (gear icon) lets you switch check categories on or off — all categories run on the first analysis — and checks can also be grouped by view, Outbound or CRM, to show which issues matter for each purpose. Each topic area has its own detail article; see the pointers below.

Free and automatic vs. optional AI#

Almost every check is deterministic (pattern- and rule-based) and free — it runs automatically the first time you open the panel, with no extra step. A separate Include AI Analysis setting (off by default) adds a small number of checks that need real-world judgment, such as spotting an implausible name; tick it in Analysis settings and click Re-run Analysis — the setting is marked in the app as using credits. Which checks use AI and what data they see is covered in a separate article.

Checks read your saved data#

The Analyze panel reads the list as it was last saved, not your unsaved edits. If you've made changes and haven't clicked Save yet, click Save first, then Re-run Analysis (in Analysis settings) to see them reflected in the checks.

  • duplicates — finding and merging duplicate contacts.
  • email-quality-and-bounces — invalid, disposable, role-based and personal email checks, and what "verified" does and doesn't guarantee.
  • campaign-ready-evaluations — turning checks into a ready / enrichable / unusable verdict for a specific goal like cold email.
  • fixing-issues — what Fix and Fix all do, and what still needs manual or enrichment work.
  • ai-checks — which checks use AI and what data they see.

FAQ#

How do I check the quality of my list?#

Open a list and click Analyze — one of the three quick buttons in the header, next to Record and Enrich. It runs automatically the first time it opens, with no button to press and no cost for the standard checks.

What is the quality score?#

It's the "Contact Quality" number in the ring at the top of the Analyze panel, from 0 to 10. Each contact gets points for having usable key fields (a business email counts most, then full name, company, job title, phone, LinkedIn and location), counting only the columns your list has, and the ring shows the average.

What do Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor and Unusable mean?#

Each contact's own score puts it in a band: Excellent 8–10, Good 6–7.9, Fair 4–5.9, Poor 1–3.9, Unusable below 1. The bar shows how many contacts fall into each band.

How many checks does ListPlus run?#

Over 100 individual checks across areas like names, emails, phone numbers, companies, job titles, addresses, LinkedIn URLs, duplicates and general completeness. Each check reports how many rows it affects; click checks to combine them into one selection, then click Select N rows to show those rows and highlight the affected cells.

Do the checks cost credits?#

No — the standard checks are deterministic (rule-based, not AI) and completely free, and they run automatically the first time you open the Analyze panel. Only the separate, optional "Include AI Analysis" setting is marked in the app as using credits.

What does "Include AI Analysis" do?#

It's an off-by-default setting in the Analyze panel that adds a small set of AI-powered checks — for example spotting implausible or fake-looking names — on top of the free deterministic checks. Tick Include AI Analysis in Analysis settings and click Re-run Analysis; the setting is marked in the app as using credits.

Does the Analyze panel check my unsaved edits?#

No — it reads your list as it was last saved. If you've made edits, filled cells or applied a fix without clicking Save, click Save, then Re-run Analysis in Analysis settings to see them reflected in the checks.

Does running a check change my data?#

No — checks only read and report; nothing in your list changes until you take an action like Fix, an edit, or an enrichment and then Save. See "fixing-issues" for what Fix and Fix all do.

Can I select rows based on a check?#

Yes — click checks in the Analyze panel to combine them into one selection, then click Select N rows to show those rows and highlight the specific cells causing the issue, so you can review or fix them directly.

Where do I find checks for a specific goal, like cold email readiness?#

That's a separate feature called evaluations, found in the same "Find & evaluate" field: pick a goal like Cold Email and every row is rated ready, enrichable or unusable for that specific purpose. See "campaign-ready-evaluations" for details.

Are duplicate contacts caught by the Analyze panel?#

Yes, duplicates are one of the check categories shown in the Analyze panel. Finding and merging them is covered in its own article, "duplicates".

Do checks work the same on every plan?#

Yes — the standard checks and the quality score are available on every plan, including Basic, since the standard checks don't call any paid provider.
