Where things are in the app#

The left navigation is a permanent icon rail. Item order and the label under each icon tell you where you are — there are no group headings any more. Top to bottom: Home (Start; your projects and lists at a glance) and Lists (Listen), then Person Search (short label Person / Person), Segment Search (short label Segments / Segmente; full name Segmentsuche in German), and AI Research (short label Research / Recherche), then Inbox (Eingang), Saved (Gemerkt) and Pipelines, where you set up where your records are sent on to — your CRM, Slack, a sequencer, n8n, Make, Zapier or your own API (see "Pipelines — send records on to your CRM, Slack, e-mail or API").

Home, Lists, Person Search, Segment Search, AI Research, Inbox, Saved and Pipelines all open a full page — none of them is a floating panel any more. Clicking Lists returns you to the list you last opened in this browser tab; in a new tab, or after restarting the app, it opens the Lists view with nothing chosen yet instead (see below).

Clicking the rail item of the page you are already on reopens that page's left column if you had collapsed it — this works for Lists, Segment Search, AI Research, Inbox, Saved and Pipelines on windows 600 pixels wide or more.

At the bottom: Commands (a magnifier icon only, no text label — ⌘K on Mac, Ctrl+K elsewhere), your credit balance, a gear icon for Settings (once signed in), and your avatar.

Text labels under the icons only appear once your browser window is at least 768 pixels wide and 720 pixels tall; on a smaller window you see icons with tooltips instead. On short windows (below 605 pixels tall) the rail also hides the Commands icon to save vertical space — everything stays reachable through Commands (⌘K) or by making the window taller.

The gear icon opens a small Settings panel with two rows: Manage Account (your profile: name, email, sign-in) and Block List (addresses/domains you never contact) — this is now the only panel that floats next to the rail. Your avatar opens a separate menu: Balance (buy credits), Usage, Plans & Billing, Settings (the same profile screen), a row with your active workspace (name and colour), Language (English, Deutsch, Español, Français) and Sign Out. Without an account, the avatar menu shows Guest with a Start for free button and only the Plans & Billing and Language rows.

Workspaces#

Everything you work on — lists, projects, Saved, the Inbox, AI Research runs, pipelines and connected accounts — lives in a workspace and is shared with its members. Every account starts with one workspace, and you can create more. The workspace switcher sits in the header of the Home page (where the plan button used to be) and is also reachable from the workspace row in your avatar menu; use it to switch workspaces, invite people, open Workspace settings or Create workspace. See "What is a workspace" and "Switch, create and rename workspaces".

The Lists view#

Clicking Lists, or opening any list, puts you in the Lists view. On windows 600 pixels wide or more, a project/list tree can be docked as a column next to the rail. With no list open it is always shown; inside a list it starts collapsed so the list gets the full width — open it with Show list tree in the list header, ⌘⇧L, or a second click on Lists in the rail. You can collapse it again (the round button on its divider, or ⌘⇧L) and resize it by dragging the divider (double-click resets it, and your width and open/closed state are remembered). On phones (below 600 pixels) the docked tree is hidden and the list header shows a Show list tree button (also ⌘⇧L) that opens it as a floating panel instead.

With no list open, you see "Pick a list" once you have lists ("All your lists and projects are on the left – one click opens a list here.") or the "No lists yet" start page if you don't — with six ways to a first list and Open a sample list (see "Create a list and import a file"). This page is browsable without an account. A + next to the "Lists" title in the tree starts a new list; owners and admins of the workspace can drag a list onto a project folder to move it in, or onto Your Lists to take it back out — see "Projects and list management" for the full rules.

Inside a list#

The list header, left to right: the list's title (click to rename), the Find & evaluate search field, Reload (only for lists imported from an online source), Save (nothing is kept until you click it), three quick buttons — Analyze, Record, Enrich — each opening one panel, a More menu split into Essentials (those same three panels) and More tools (Sublists, Changes, Columns, Prompts, Automation, Dashboard), an Export arrow, and a ⋯ menu with more export options, Add Column and List Settings.

Selecting rows shows a selection bar above the grid with actions for just those rows (Enrich, Add tag, Sublist) — this bar only appears when no evaluation is active; with an evaluation active, the evaluation bar offers enrichment for the selection instead. The status bar at the bottom shows view filters (All, Filtered, Selection, Changes), your tag chips, the credits spent on this list, and the zoom level. See "list-editor-tour" for the full walkthrough of every panel.

App vs website names#

The app uses short names; the listplus.ai website uses descriptive ones for the same thing:

App nameWebsite name
Segment Search (Segmentsuche) — short label Segments / Segmente under the iconAudience database
AI Research (KI-Recherche)AI audience research
Person Search (Personensuche)Person lookup / email finder
BasicThe plan without a monthly fee (never "Free" — you still need credits once your starting 25 are used)

The Inbox is neither your email inbox nor the Outlook add-in — see the FAQ below.

For advanced users#

  • A list is a table of records (rows) and columns; records count against the workspace owner's record limit, across all workspaces that person owns.
  • Each column has a content type (email, first name, company, phone, LinkedIn URL, country and more — about 170 in total), detected automatically at import and changeable later. The type decides which checks, enrichments and AI examples are offered for that column.
  • Every row keeps its enrichment results by provider, separate from your own cell values — nothing overwrites a cell on its own. You choose when to fill empty cells from them, or take a single value over in the Record panel.
  • Sublists are saved segments of a list: manual (you assign rows) or smart (rules evaluated against saved data only). Tags are free labels on individual rows, independent of sublists.

FAQ#

Where do I find things in the app?#

The left navigation is a permanent icon rail with no group headings: Home and Lists sit at the top, then Person Search, Segment Search and AI Research, then Inbox, Saved and Pipelines. At the bottom sit Commands (a magnifier icon, ⌘K or Ctrl+K), your credit balance, a gear icon for Settings, and your avatar. Every item opens a full page; the workspace switcher is in the Home page header and in your avatar menu.

Where is the Enrich button in a list?#

The Enrich button sits in the list header next to Analyze and Record, and opens the Enrich panel. Select rows with no evaluation active and a selection bar above the grid offers Enrich for just those rows; with an evaluation active, the evaluation bar offers enrichment instead. Enrichment costs credits per lookup, and the app shows the maximum cost before you start.

Where are the other list panels like Prompts or Automation?#

In a list, click More in the header. Essentials holds Analyze, Record and Enrich; More tools holds Sublists, Changes, Columns, Prompts, Automation and Dashboard — Enrich, Prompts and Automation only appear if you can edit the list.

Why are the app names different from the website?#

The app uses short names, the website uses descriptive ones: Segment Search (Segmentsuche) is the website's "audience database", AI Research (KI-Recherche) is its "AI audience research", and Person Search (Personensuche) is its "person lookup". The plan without a monthly fee is called Basic, not Free — you still need credits once your starting 25 are used.

Is the Inbox my email inbox?#

No — the Inbox (Eingang) is a place in ListPlus where you paste notes, email signatures or calendar invitations, or forward an email to your own Inbox address, and ListPlus recognizes the people in them; it does not read your mailbox. It is also not the Outlook add-in, which works inside Outlook itself. Entries disappear after 14 days unless you save the contacts or add them to a list.

How is data organised in ListPlus? (technical)#

A list is a table of records (rows) and columns, and each column has a content type — email, first name, company, LinkedIn URL and about 170 more — that decides which checks, enrichments and AI examples apply to it. Every row keeps its enrichment results by provider, separate from your own cell values, and you choose when to fill empty cells from them. Sublists are saved segments of a list (manual or rule-based), and tags are free labels on individual rows.

What is a sublist?#

A sublist is a saved segment of a list — a subset of rows you can filter, enrich or export on its own. Manual sublists hold whichever rows you assign; smart sublists are defined by rules and only re-evaluate against data you have saved. Create or manage them in the Sublists panel, under More in the list header.

What is the difference between tags and sublists?#

Tags are free-text labels on individual rows, good for quick, informal marking. Sublists are structured, saved subsets of a list — built manually or from rules — that you can filter, share or export on their own. A row can carry several tags and belong to several sublists at the same time.

What is a project?#

A project is a folder on the Home page that groups related lists together, showing their combined list count, record count and last-modified date. Create one with + New under Projects, then drag a list onto it, or create a new list while inside the project. Deleting a project does not delete its lists — they just become unassigned.

What is a content type, and why does it matter?#

Every column has a content type — email, first name, company, phone, country, LinkedIn URL and many more — that ListPlus detects automatically when you import data. The content type decides which quality checks, enrichment routes and AI example prompts are offered for that column, so a wrong type can hide the right options. Change it any time in List Settings → Schema, though the page reloads after you save.

What does the CR number at the bottom mean?#

CR is the small label under the number at the bottom of the left navigation — the number above it is your current credit balance. Click it to buy more credits, or see how they were spent on the Usage page, opened from your avatar menu. (What credits are and cost is explained in "credits-explained".)

Why don't I see labels under the navigation icons?#

Labels only appear once your browser window is at least 768 pixels wide and 720 pixels tall; a smaller or narrower window shows icons with tooltips instead. On short windows (below 605 pixels tall) the app also hides the Commands icon to save vertical space. Everything stays reachable — open Commands with ⌘K (or Ctrl+K), or make the window taller.

Where is the Account page, and where is the Block List?#

Click the gear icon at the bottom of the left navigation to open the Settings panel, which has two rows: Manage Account and Block List. Manage Account opens your profile, where you change your name, email and sign-in settings; Block List opens the addresses or domains you never want contacted.

What is the difference between Saved and Lists?#

Both are full pages and both are shared with everyone in your workspace, but they hold different things: Saved holds the people you chose to keep from a search or the Inbox, with a folder column on the left, while Lists opens the list you were last working on (or, with nothing chosen yet, a project/list tree). Inside a list the tree starts collapsed; open it with Show list tree, ⌘⇧L or a second click on Lists in the rail.

What does "enrichable" mean?#

Enrichable means a row is missing something your chosen evaluation needs, but that data can likely be looked up through enrichment — unlike ready (already complete) or unusable (missing something enrichment can't fix, such as no name and no company to search by). You see these labels once you pick an evaluation, such as Cold Email, in the Find & evaluate field. Enriching only the enrichable rows keeps costs down, and the app always shows the maximum cost first.
