Detecting job changes

Updated Markdown

ListPlus can flag contacts whose company no longer matches what's in your list — inside a list, from data you already have or from a fresh lookup. The Segment Search audience database's own "Job change" filter is not currently available.

Detecting a change automatically or for free#

  • "Detect Company Changes" — in the Enrich menu's AI Analysis group (shown once the list has a company column and some enriched rows; also available as "Detect job change" under Tasks & analyses in the field picker). It compares the company cell with the best company name already stored for that row from any earlier lookup; rows with an empty company cell are skipped. It's free.
  • Automatic flag on any lookup — when a LinkedIn Profile or contact lookup returns a current company that differs from your company column, the row is flagged at no extra cost, on top of whatever that lookup itself costs.

Either way, a flagged row shows the previous and new company (and job title, when available) in that row's record panel, under "Signals". Running either action again on rows that now match clears the flag.

Detect Job Changes (the wizard)#

For a fresh check instead of relying on data you already have, run "Detect Job Changes" from the Enrich menu (under ENRICHMENT WIZARDS) or from ⌘K ("Jobwechsel erkennen"). It's a step-by-step wizard: it shows a plan and an estimated total, then runs all enabled steps after one click on "Start Detection (… Cr.)". Steps:

  • Check which rows have a known company — free.
  • Verify the email — 0.1 credits per clear result; an email that no longer delivers is a strong sign the person left.
  • Find missing LinkedIn URLs via Google — free.
  • Fetch the LinkedIn profile — 0.5 credits per profile found, fetched fresh even if you already looked it up before.
  • Compare the old and new employer — free.

Credits are charged per step as it runs, and you can switch individual steps off before starting. Results appear in the same row's record panel under "Signals".

The "Job change" filter shown in Segment Search's person filters is marked "Not available" and can't be selected. See "How Segment Search filters work" for the full filter list and what's available on Segment Search's current data plan.

FAQ#

Can ListPlus tell me if a contact changed jobs?#

Yes, two ways: "Detect Company Changes" in the Enrich menu compares the company you have against company data already stored for that row, for free; or run the "Detect Job Changes" wizard for a fresh LinkedIn-based check.

Do enrichments flag job changes automatically?#

Yes — when a LinkedIn Profile or contact lookup returns a current company that differs from your company column, the row is flagged at no extra cost, on top of whatever that lookup itself costs.

Where do I see that a contact's company changed?#

Open that row's record panel and look under "Signals" — a flagged change shows the previous company, the new company, and the job title if available.

Why didn't "Detect Company Changes" find anything?#

It only compares data you already have — if a row has no company cell value, or was never enriched with a company name to compare against, no flag is set. Run Company Lookup, a LinkedIn lookup, or the "Detect Job Changes" wizard on those rows first.

What does the "Detect Job Changes" wizard actually do?#

It re-checks contacts fresh: verifies the email, finds a LinkedIn URL if missing, fetches the current LinkedIn profile, and compares the employer it finds against your company column — all from one "Start Detection" click, with each paid step shown before you run it.

What does the "Detect Job Changes" wizard cost?#

Only two of its five steps charge credits: verifying the email (0.1 credits per clear result) and fetching the LinkedIn profile (0.5 credits per profile found). Finding the LinkedIn URL and comparing employers are free, and you can switch any step off before starting.

Is there a "Job change" filter I can search by in Segment Search?#

It's marked "Not available" and can't be selected. See "How Segment Search filters work" for what's available.

If a contact's company matches again, does the flag go away?#

Yes — running "Detect Company Changes", the "Detect Job Changes" wizard, or another lookup on a row where the company now matches clears the earlier flag automatically.
