Transfer data record by record, or join columns from another list

This article covers two separate tools: reviewing enrichment results one record at a time (instead of a bulk fill), and pulling specific columns into your list from another list you own, matched row by row. Transfer data record by record#

Selecting rows with stored enrichment data and clicking Apply values in the Enrich menu opens Merge Enriched Information — the same dialog described in "Fill empty cells with enrichment data," here reviewed one record at a time instead of applying to every row at once.

For the current record, two tabs show what would change:

• Fill empty — values for columns that are currently empty on this row.
• Overwrite all — every value ListPlus has for this row, including ones that would replace something already in the cell (shown struck through next to the new value).

Each line in the dialog is a field (a content type like email or job title) with a checkbox, its source (for example FullEnrich, LinkedIn, or an AI analysis), and the value it would write. Uncheck a field to leave it out. Selected records with nothing to transfer are shown as "N skipped" and left out of the review. When more than one record has values to apply, arrows next to a "current / total" counter step through them, and a checkbox labelled Ignore this skips the current record without applying anything to it. Apply this applies only the current record's checked fields; Apply to all like this applies the checked fields (from the active tab) to every record still pending, in one go. When only one of the selected records has values to apply, a single Apply button applies it directly.

This never costs credits — it only writes data ListPlus already fetched, the same as the "fill empty cells" prompt. Applied values appear as unsaved edits; click Save in the list header to keep them.

Join columns from another list#

Separate from Consolidate Lists (see "Merge two lists"), which combines two whole lists into one, this pulls specific columns from another list you own into matching rows of your current list — without adding any new rows. It works like a VLOOKUP/SVERWEIS: you pick a column each list shares (like email or domain), and ListPlus copies chosen columns from the matching row in the other list.

Start it from the ⋯ menu in the list header (near Add Column and List Settings), labelled Add Another List..., or from Commands ⌘K, labelled Join from Another List. Both open the Enrich from List page, with four steps (Select Source · Define Link · Map Columns · Review & Apply):

1. Select Source List — pick another list of yours to pull data from.
2. Define Join Key — choose a column in your list and a column in the source list to match on, and a match strategy: Exact match (values must be identical, ignoring upper/lower case and leading or trailing spaces), Domain extraction (compares the domain part of a URL or email), or Fuzzy company name (ignores legal suffixes like GmbH or Inc and punctuation). A live preview shows how many rows matched before you continue. If several source rows match, the first one is used.
3. Map Columns — choose which source columns to bring over, point each at an existing column or create a new one.
4. Review & Apply — choose Fill empty cells only or Overwrite existing, then click Apply Join.

After Apply Join, click Review in List. The matched values appear as unsaved, highlighted cell edits, so click Save to keep them. Leaving without saving (or Revert) discards the values. Any new columns the join created are different: they are added to your list as soon as you click Apply Join and stay even if you discard the values. Delete them by hand if you don't want them.

Joining columns from another list is free, and both lists must be in the workspace you're currently working in. A list from another workspace can't be used as either side — switch to that workspace, or export the list there and import it here (see "Switch, create and rename workspaces").

FAQ#

Can I review enrichment results one record at a time instead of filling everything at once?#

Yes — select the rows and click "Apply values" in the Enrich menu to open Merge Enriched Information, which steps through each record with arrows and a "current / total" counter so you can review and apply one at a time.

What do the "Fill empty" and "Overwrite all" tabs do?#

"Fill empty" only shows values for columns currently empty on that row; "Overwrite all" shows every value ListPlus has for the row, including ones that would replace an existing cell value (shown struck through). Each field has its own checkbox so you can pick exactly what to apply.

What does "Ignore this" do when reviewing records?#

It skips the current record without writing anything to it and moves on, so it's excluded from "Apply to all like this." You can un-tick it later to bring the record back into the review.

What's the difference between "Apply this" and "Apply to all like this"?#

"Apply this" applies only the checked fields for the record you're currently viewing. "Apply to all like this" applies the checked fields from the active tab to every record still pending in the review, in one action.

Can I join columns from another list, like a VLOOKUP or SVERWEIS?#

Yes — open "Add Another List..." from the list's ⋯ menu, or "Join from Another List" in Commands ⌘K, to match rows on a shared column (like email or domain) and pull chosen columns from another list in the same workspace into matching rows.

How do I match rows between two lists when joining columns?#

On the Define Join Key step, pick a column from each list and a match strategy: Exact match compares values as identical, ignoring upper/lower case and leading or trailing spaces; Domain extraction compares just the domain of a URL or email; Fuzzy company name ignores legal suffixes and punctuation in company names. If several source rows match, the first one is used.

Does joining columns from another list add new rows?#

No. It only writes values into existing rows that match a row in the other list — your row count doesn't change. To combine two lists' rows into one, use "Merge two lists" (Consolidate Lists) instead.

Do I need to click Save after joining columns from another list?#

Yes for the values: click Review in List, then Save to keep the matched cell values — leaving without saving, or using Revert, discards them. Any new columns the join created are the exception: they're added to your list immediately when you click Apply Join and stay even if you discard the values, so delete an unwanted one by hand.

Can I join columns from a list in another workspace?#

No, both lists must be in the workspace you're currently working in. Export the other list as a file in its workspace, import it into this one, and then join from the imported copy.

Does transferring data record by record, or joining columns from another list, cost credits?#

No, both are free. Transferring only copies enrichment data ListPlus already fetched, and joining only matches and copies values between lists in your workspace.
