Enrichment problems: nothing found, cells not filled, blocked, credits ran out

Updated Markdown

Enrichment trouble is almost always one of four things: a lookup genuinely found nothing, it found data but a cell stayed empty, ListPlus refused to start because you have unsaved edits, or the credits ran out. Each has its own full article — this page routes you to the right one.

A lookup found nothing#

If a run finished but returned no data for a row, see "Why did enrichment find nothing?" — it covers the usual reasons (no starting point, no provider match, a wrong or outdated identifier) and what to try next, plus which lookups charge credits even on a miss.

A lookup found data, but the cell is still empty#

That's a different situation from finding nothing: the enrichment result exists but hasn't been written into the grid yet. See "Fill empty cells with enrichment data" for the "Fill empty cells with enrichment data?" dialog, why it sometimes doesn't appear, and how to apply stored results later with "Apply values" in the Enrich menu.

"Please save your changes before enriching"#

The Enrich menu blocks starting an enrichment while your list has unsaved edits, so results are written to the correct saved rows. You'll see: "Please save your changes before enriching. This ensures enrichment data is written to the correct records." Click Save in the list header, wait for it to turn grey with the tooltip "No changes to save," then start the enrichment again. See "Saving is manual: no autosave" for how unsaved changes are shown and why enrichment blocks on them.

The credits ran out#

If the balance doesn't cover a run, it doesn't start: you see the credits window, or, as a member of someone else's workspace, "Balance empty – please ask … to top up" with the owner's name, because enrichment in a workspace spends the owner's credits (see "Credits, plan and limits in a workspace"). If the balance runs out while a run is going — other members may be spending the same credits — the run stops early: the finished job shows a number of "failed" rows, each with the note "insufficient_credits", and those rows are not charged. After a top-up, select the rows that are still empty and run the enrichment again. See "Enrichment jobs: progress, batches and limits."

FAQ#

Why did my enrichment run find nothing for a row?#

See "Why did enrichment find nothing?" — it lists the usual causes (no starting point on the row, no match at the provider, a wrong or outdated identifier) and what to try next.

The cell is still empty even though enrichment said it found data — why?#

The result exists but hasn't been applied yet. See "Fill empty cells with enrichment data" for the fill dialog and how to apply stored results later with "Apply values" in the Enrich menu.

Why does ListPlus say "Please save your changes before enriching"?#

Because you have unsaved edits in the list — the Enrich menu won't start an enrichment until you save, so results land on the correct saved rows. Click Save in the list header, then start the enrichment again.

I clicked Save and it still won't let me enrich — what now?#

Wait a moment for the Save button to turn grey with the tooltip "No changes to save" before retrying — that confirms the save finished. If it stays blocked after that, reload the list; if the problem persists, contact support with the list name and what you clicked.

Does a lookup that finds nothing cost credits?#

Usually not — see "Why did enrichment find nothing?" for the short list of exceptions that charge for the attempt itself even on a miss.

Do I need to save again after enrichment fills my cells?#

Yes. Filled cells are unsaved edits like any other change; see "Fill empty cells with enrichment data" and "Saving is manual: no autosave" for how to review and save them.

My enrichment shows failed rows marked "insufficient_credits" — what now?#

The credit balance ran out during the run, so the remaining rows were skipped and not charged; in a workspace it's the owner's balance, which other members may be spending too. Once the balance is topped up (only the owner can do that for a workspace), select the rows that are still empty and run the enrichment again.

None of this matches my problem — what do I do?#

Contact support with the list name, what you clicked, and the exact message you saw — see "How do I contact support?" for the chat and email options.
