Export and sync problems

Updated Markdown

This article covers export and sync failures specifically. For how exporting, connecting and syncing normally work, see "Exporting your list," "Connecting a CRM, spreadsheet or other app" and "Keeping a connected list in sync."

"Export failed"#

If an export doesn't go through, you'll see "Export failed. Please try again." and the wizard returns you to the step where you can adjust it. Retry first; if it keeps failing for the same destination, reconnect that destination's account and try again, or contact support.

Columns missing from an export#

Check the column step in the export wizard — a column may simply be unchecked. Also remember export only sends what's actually saved in the list's cells: data Enrich found but you haven't accepted via "Fill empty cells?" is left out for most destinations — see "Exporting your list" for the exceptions.

CRM field mapping looks wrong#

For HubSpot, open Field Mapping in the export wizard and check or change the dropdown for each column — an unmapped column is skipped, not sent with a guessed field. Google Sheets, Lemlist, Instantly and Smartlead don't have a mapping step; see "Exporting to HubSpot and Google Sheets" and "Sending contacts to Lemlist, Instantly and Smartlead" for how each one matches your columns.

Rows skipped or marked failed#

HubSpot and the sequencers (Lemlist, Instantly, Smartlead) need an email address, read from your column named email. A row without one isn't sent — HubSpot, Lemlist and Instantly count it as "failed" in the result message; Smartlead leaves it out of its count.

"Sync Changes" or "Sync failed"#

Sync Changes only works for lists created by connecting Google Sheets, Airtable, HubSpot, Notion, Salesforce or Pipedrive. Click Save first, since only saved changes are pushed, then try again. If the result instead shows "N conflict(s) detected", those fields changed in the source since you edited them and were held back by your conflict setting — see "Setting up how changes push back to your source."

FAQ#

I got "Export failed" — what do I do?#

Try the export again; this usually means the request to that destination didn't complete. If it keeps failing for the same destination, reconnect that account (HubSpot, Google, Lemlist and so on) from the export wizard and try once more.

Some columns are missing from my export#

Check that the column is checked on the export wizard's column step. If the missing values were found by Enrich but never filled into the cells, fill them in first with "Fill empty cells?" — see "Exporting your list" for which destinations fill enrichment data automatically instead.

My HubSpot field mapping looks wrong#

Open the Field Mapping section in the export wizard and check or change the dropdown for each column yourself — ListPlus only suggests a mapping, and any column left unmapped is skipped rather than guessed.

Why were some rows skipped or marked "failed" in my export?#

HubSpot and the sequencers (Lemlist, Instantly, Smartlead) match and create contacts by email, read from your column named email. A row without one isn't sent — HubSpot, Lemlist and Instantly count it as "failed" in the result message; Smartlead leaves it out of its count.

Sync Changes says "Sync failed" — what happened?#

Click Save first, since only saved changes are pushed, then try again. If the result instead shows "N conflict(s) detected", those fields changed in the source since you edited them and were held back by your conflict setting — see "Setting up how changes push back to your source."

I don't see a Sync Changes button on my list#

The button appears in the Changes panel only for the workspace's owner and admins, and only on lists created by connecting a source that supports sync back — see "Keeping a connected list in sync" for the list of sources. If you're a member, ask an owner or admin of the workspace to run Sync Changes.

Why can't I sync or reload a connected list in my workspace?#

A connected account belongs to the workspace it was connected in, so every member can use Reload, but Sync Changes is only shown to the workspace's owner and admins. If Reload says "This data source was connected in another workspace and can only be reloaded there.", switch to that workspace, or export the list and import it where you need it. See "Keeping a connected list in sync."
